an abiding life bio pic.png

Upon graduation from Texas A&M University with degrees in Biochemistry and Genetics, Shanna and her husband Jason moved to Houston, TX where she began working as a Technical Sales Representative in the refining and petrochemical industry. Since being entrusted with three sons, Gavin, Wyatt and Luke, Shanna has been blessed by the opportunity to stay at home with them and relish the homeschool adventures God has entrusted to their family. Together they soak in the blessings of being surrounded by and serving alongside a strong spiritual community rich in truth and relationships.

Shanna received spiritual direction training through the Selah Spiritual Direction certificate program through Leadership Transformations. God has created a love and passion in her for abiding in Jesus, studying His word and sharing His great love and freedom with others. Tending to the care of other’s souls and walking with families in their journey to create a Deuteronomy 6 home is one of her greatest joys in life. A passion for relationships and intentionality shapes their family, as well as a heart for all of God’s children - allowing them to walk through life more slowly and experience God more fully.

Shanna has trained to companion others with the Enneagram using a unique Christlike Virtues approach - one that models our walk in spiritual formation, growing to reflect the image of God.

Shanna also enjoys reading, writing, and spending time in nature and with people. She loves art and dance, as they speak volumes to her soul. “Jesus is my greatest love and my reason for all I do.”

  • Trinity - Living in the love of the Father, the freedom and example of the Son, Jesus Christ and the guidance from the ever presence of the Holy Spirit.

  • Power and Truth of Scripture - The Word of God is truth and is breathed out by God. It is alive and active, searches our hearts and accomplishes God’s will.

  • Relationship with God - God created us for and desires a deep relationship with each of us. He pursues us and communicates with us in many different ways - always in accordance with Scripture. Our God is a God of love and restoration. In Him we can hope and live in His freedom and love.

  • Relationships and Community - We were created to worship and live in community and relationships with others. In these relationships we walk with, encourage, serve, love, teach and learn with each other - building each other up and pointing towards Christ.

  • God in the Home - God created man, woman, child and the family unit to reflect His image. Each family is uniquely created and molded just as each individual within the family is. It is within this uniqueness that God’s love, grace, mercy, humility, selflessness and truths are lived out and shared with a broken and hurting world. God created families to be His hands and feet in the world - a city on a hill shining His healing light for all to experience.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
— Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
— Matthew 22:37-40
  • Service and Stewardship - God created each of us with unique gifts, abilities and relationships. He chose the time and location of our lives. He calls us to live in our true-selves as the person He created us to be, and to be good stewards of all He has entrusted to us. He promises to lead us in His will for the sake of the Kingdom and His glorious name.

  • Spiritual Growth - God calls each of to be ever growing in our spiritual lives. Spiritual Formation/sanctification is for everyone. (See Soul Care for more details.)
