SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
A Spiritual Director is a Spiritual Companion that walks with the directee through seasons of life helping them to hear, see and respond to God’s presence and activity in their lives. In Spiritual Direction, we recognize that the Holy Spirit Himself is the Director, we are the prayerful companions that faithfully walk alongside you both on your unique journey together. In Spiritual Direction, we are not seeking a change in our lives or circumstances, but rather seeking God Himself right where we are. We are seeking to trust God and anything He desires to reveal to us.
Who would benefit from Spiritual Direction?
Those seeking to know more of God and His love, their places in this world and His will in their lives
Those experiencing changes in life or view of self
Those experiencing loss or a dissatisfaction from the chaos and distractions of this world
Those experiencing the different flows and rhythms/seasons of life
Anyone, in any season, who feels the nudging from God to seek more of Him

How does a Spiritual Director differ from a Spiritual Counselor?
A spiritual counselor … often helps one work through a trial or problem/issue - They help answer the question, ‘How do I handle this situation I am currently facing?’ Problem solving and/or healing is the ultimate goal. Counselors often provide the client with multiple solutions or directives for their healing.
A spiritual director… is often a spiritual companion for all seasons of life, both the joys and sorrows, the ease and the trials. They help one work through or wrestle with the questions, ‘What is God trying to reveal to me in this situation/season? Where is God in this situation?’ and ‘How is He calling out to me?’ Intimacy with God is the ultimate goal. The Holy Spirit leads as the director prays, listens and waits alongside the client (providing helpful questions, scripture and prayer while they listen to the Spirit together) - ultimately helping the directee to further discern the will of God and His activity in their personal life…
What to expect from Spiritual Direction
Directees typically meet with their directors once a month for a one hour session.
Typical Spiritual Direction is on an individual basis, however, couple or staff spiritual direction can be beneficial at specific times where extra discernment is desired.
The directee comes to the session with an awareness of certain questions, themes or patterns God has been pressing on their hearts the past month. The agenda for their time together is held very loosely - relying on the Holy Spirit to reveal what He desires. The Spirit is the Director in each session.
Sessions begin with prayerful silence as we lean into the Holy Spirit’s presence.
Each session is filled with prayerful silence, helpful questions for you and God, Scripture, and prayer.
It is important to remember that God meets us right where we are. There is no need to hide in our false-self, but be honest before God and rest in His unfailing love.
Everything is held in complete confidentiality.
